The first Parent/Teacher Conferences of the year are almost here!
 
On October 1st, 2nd, and 3rd, Howell Mountain School will have minimum days with a release time of 12:05 p.m., allowing teachers to meet with parents in the afternoon. After School Programs will run from 12:05 p.m. until 6:00 p.m.
 
For these first conferences, teachers like to meet with each and every family. If you have not yet received a time to meet with teacher of your student(s), please contact the teacher or the office as soon as possible as the schedule is filling up fast!
 
These conferences are important ways to help create and maintain the partnership between school and home. We look forward to seeing you at the conference!
 

Back-to-School

Howell Mountain School celebrates the start of another year on September 11, 2014!
 
Our annual Back-to-School night begins at 4:30 p.m. for those of you helping with set-up, and dinner will be served at 5:15 p.m.
 
We are asking everyone to bring a side dish, dessert, or drink to share!
 
If you have a grill you can lend us, some time to help cook, set up, or tear down, we would love to hear from you ASAP!
 
At 6:00 p.m., there will be a program in the Multi-Use Room for the parents!
 
Classroom visits are at 6:25 p.m. and at 6:55 p.m. The library will also be open for those who would like to visit!
 
Thank you all for spending your evening with us on the 11th! We look forward to seeing you!

Site Council Nominations

Howell Mountain School has a Site Council that helps make decisions in the direction of the school, both in the Classroom and with Operations.
 
The Site Council, called the Parent/Community Council (P/CC) at HMS, is comprised of parents, community members, teachers, and other staff.
 
Each group is responsible for electing their representatives.
 
As we start a new year, we have several vacancies available. These open seats are in the following areas:
  • Parent
  • Community
 If you would like to nominate someone for these a position on the P/CC, please download the form and return it to the office by Friday, September 12, 2014.

New Tech Network provides students with incredible opportunities for learning through Project Based curriculum and increased integration of technology.
 
Each of our teachers has received training in the New Tech methodology of teaching, and have access to a coach that helps them develop and deliver lessons that exceed state mandates.
